Itinerary

  • Arrive to Ulaanbaatar International Airport. Your flight must arrive before 1PM on Sept 21, in order to take the domestic flight to Western Mongolia.

We will be picked up and taken to the ranger station in Western Mongolia.

Western Mongolia is primarily inhabited by Kazakhs, comprising 90% of the population. They have their own language and unique culture.

  • On Day 2, we will take a horse trek to Altai Tavan Bogd National Park

We'll traverse mountain ranges and rivers, surrounded by rocky landscapes. At some beautiful spot along the way, we'll make a quick stop to set up camp for lunch. Eventually, we'll reach the valley known as the "White River," home to nomadic Tuvan families for centuries. Their language differs from Khalkh Mongols, and their main religion is Shamanism, although their culture is closely tied to Mongolian traditions. The White River, also known as the milk river, flows from the glaciers of the Altai mountains.

  • On Day 3, we will begin our 3 day horse trek to Bear Valley.

The first stop will be Khar Saaa.

  • On Day 4, we will continue our horse trek.

The second top wil be Dakhilbay Pass.

  • On Day 5, we will continue our horse trek.

The last stop will be Mouth of Akshu.

  • On Day 6, we'll visit the Kazakh nomadic eagle hunter family. This is a very special and hospitable family, and we'll spend the rest of the day experiencing their culture. There are many daily tasks in the nomadic lifestyle, such as women making dairy products in their unique way and men working with livestock, including golden eagles. You'll practice everything from milking cows to making dairy products in the countryside. Additionally, you'll have amazing opportunities to take photos with the golden eagle and its trainer.

  • On Day 7, we will hike to a nearby waterfall and spend some time there before heading back. nc

We will then depart back to Olgii town and stay there overnight in preparation for the return flight back to UB the next day.

  • On Day 8, you will take the domestic flight from Olgii back to UB.

The flight will arrive in UB at 16:25 PM so your international flight back home should be after that. Otherwise, if you would like to spend an extra day in UB then let us know and we can arrange it for an extra cost.
